I subscribe to quite a few different YouTube channels, but as with everything I am trying to make sure I am only watching the things I like and that are actually worth the time. There are a few channels that make videos that I watch as soon as they have new videos. Today I want to talk about one such channel.Movies with Mikey is technically not the channel, it is a video series within the FilmJoy channel, but I am going to refer to it as the channel because it’s easier that way. Movies with Mikey is pretty much what it says; a show about movies with a guy named Mikey. I am sure you have seen plenty of shows about movies before, but I promise, this one is better.I found it fitting to talk about this because while Mikey explores these movies he keeps it very positive, he talks about why he loves movies in general. (Here I am exploring why I love a YouTube channel that explores why they love movies; we are deep in the meta rabbit hole here.) He has this way of bringing out the joy, wonder, and hope a movie can bring us. He even went so far as to change the name of his channel to FilmJoy (until recently it was called Chainsaw Suit Originals). The outlook he brings makes me look at things in a better light, makes me look for the positives out there. It is a refreshing take when much of what we see and hear these days is so critical everything. The other thing that is great about this channel is just the execution. He makes me want to make better content. His brand is very on point, and the recurring bits just build the more and more you watch them. You can tell that he loves what he is doing and putting everything into them. The only negative thing about this channel is that unless you have seen every movie, you can’t watch all the videos. That isn't to say you can't watch them at all if you haven't seen them, but if you would like to see them, you have to avoid them, or they will be spoiled. I have watched a few of them for movies I haven't seen and enjoyed them just as much.Recently the videos have moved away from solely focusing on one specific movie each episode and start looking at broader themes in cinema and franchises. I like the new direction as well as the old mainstays. I encourage you just to look at the list, pick one movie you enjoy and watch the video. I would bet you will come away with something different from it.

Last a small programming note; these newsletters may be a bit more sporadic for the next month or two, so don't worry too much if you haven't received one in a while. And if you do get them more often, it will just be a pleasant surprise.
